Check The Hands
If you can physically examine the watch, there are many little tests you can do to ensure authenticity; checking the hands is one of them. Unless it is a Rolex Oysterquartz watch, the second hand should sweep round the face smoothly, rather than ticking or having any jerky or random movements. The shape of the hands can also be a giveaway – fake Rolex watches often have hands that are wrongly shaped or too short, whereas some of them have authentic-looking hands, but for the wrong model of Rolex. You can also check the inside of the case backs to see the date code. Of course, it can be a bit harder when buying online, but look to see if the website includes customer testimonials – this is a good indicator of whether or not you can trust them. If you follow these tips and think carefully before you buy a watch, you will be the proud owner of a well-made, beautiful, authentic Rolex wristwatch.
